CANDLES & CUSHIONS
ABOUT US
Candles & Cushions are experts in home staging. By home staging we mean furnishing and styling a property to make it sell quicker, and sell for a higher price. On average, staged homes spend half the amount of time that unstaged homes spend on the market*.
FAQ
Why does home staging make a property sell quicker?
90% of buyers search online first*. When scrolling hundreds of properties online an empty room won't catch anyone's eye, nor will a cluttered one full of personal belongings; a beautifully staged one will. Home buyers spend on average 2 seconds on an advert without a photo, and 20 seconds on on a advert with good photos*. More buyers interested in your property online will result in more viewings.
Also, home staging means that buyers can visualise living in the property. The majority of people cannot see an empty room and visualise what furniture would fit it in and how they would live in the space. It's the same reason property developers have show homes. 77% of estate agents said staging made it easier for buyers to visualise the property as a future home*.
What is the process?
We take 1-2 days to install everything. This includes furniture, art, bedding, towels, and home accessories (plenty of candles and cushions!). Our standard rental period is 6 weeks. We can extend this for a minimal charge if you need longer. Then we will take 1 day to dismantle everything and remove it from your property.
Where do you operate?
Candles & Cushions is based in Fulham but we cover all of London.
What kind of properties do you stage?
All kinds! It's not only £1m+ properties that benefit from staging! In fact home staging can have a bigger impact on smaller properties. Think of a studio flat where buyers can't visualise how to live in the small open plan space - some carefully placed furniture will show how they can have separate living, sleeping, and kitchen areas. Candles & Cushions are experts in staging small properties.
Is it worth the money?
The average staging cost is between 1 and 3% of the home’s asking price, and generates a return on investment of 8-10%.* This means that any money you spend on staging should be more than recouped in the extra sale price you get. So if your property is not selling quickly enough for your liking, it makes sense to try professional home staging before you consider reducing the sale price.
